6.4″ x 2″ Linear Roll Subwoofer Spider

Stacking multiple 6.4″ x 2″ linear roll spiders in a subwoofer design provides additional support and improved control. Multiple spiders help keep the voice coil centered during movement, which reduces the risk of coil rub and improves long-term reliability.

Stacked spiders also help support heavier moving mass. In builds with larger or heavier voice coils, a single spider can begin to sag over time. By stacking spiders, the suspension better supports the load and helps maintain proper coil alignment.

In addition, stacking increases overall stiffness (reduces compliance). As a result, the system’s resonant frequency (Fs) will typically rise. This added stiffness allows the subwoofer to handle higher power levels with better control, especially in high-output applications.

During large excursions, stacked spiders help maintain more consistent movement, which leads to cleaner and more controlled sound reproduction. Furthermore, stacking increases mechanical control and helps limit unwanted movement. Consequently, the system delivers a tighter and more stable response.

When stacking spiders, use identical spiders with the same dimensions and roll geometry. Mixing different spider types can cause alignment issues and improper fit.
