L3890 Thick Black Rubber Speaker Adhesive
The L3890 thick black rubber speaker adhesive is a high-viscosity (5000-8000 cps) rubber-based cement formulated to meet the demanding performance, durability, and industrial standards of the loudspeaker industry. This adhesive provides exceptional adhesion, even on difficult-to-bond substrates such as polypropylene, styrene, butyl rubber, and most coated cloth materials, making it a top choice for professional speaker repairs and builds.
Superior Flexibility and Versatile Application
Known for its excellent flexibility, L3890 is highly recommended for securing dust caps and lead wires. It performs exceptionally well on polypropylene dust caps and cones, providing a strong, reliable bond without compromising flexibility or durability.
Application Tips for Best Results
Before using L3890 rubber adhesive, always ensure that the surfaces to be bonded are clean, dry, and free of dirt, grease, or debris. For optimal adhesion, lightly roughen the surface before applying the adhesive. When gluing dust caps, scuff the lip with sandpaper to improve bonding strength.

For Surround-to-Frame Bonding: Apply the adhesive to the frame and allow it to air out for about one minute before positioning the surround. Then, press firmly to secure it in place.
Quick Tack Time and Full Cure Details
Once applied, L3890 typically develops tack within 4 minutes, allowing ample time for adjustments before the bond sets. For full curing, allow the adhesive to dry for at least 24 hours. Depending on materials and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity, maximum bond strength may be achieved within 48 to 72 hours.
STORAGE AND HANDLING:
The shelf life is at least 6 months. For optimum shelf life of this product, store at temperatures of 60-80 F. Lower temperatures will cause increased viscosity of a temporary nature, whereas higher temperatures may have a permanent effect on viscosity.
L3890 is made of solvents and will evaporate if container is not closed. If after storing it for a long period of time and it starts to thicken, you can dilute it with toluene or MEK to thin it out. The softening point for this glue is 230° F and max temperature resistance is 250° F
