VXF-12 Dual 4 Ohm Recone Drop-In Kit

The Skar Audio VXF Series drop-in recone kit is an aftermarket replacement kit designed for customers who want a high-quality rebuild option. We follow OEM dimensions and performance goals; however, this kit is not an OEM product. As a result, performance may differ from factory-built subwoofers. By purchasing this kit, you agree to these possible variations.

What’s Included and Your Installation Responsibility

This kit does not include adhesives, dust caps, or shims. Installation requires proper tools, steady alignment, and real technical skill. Because of this, you accept full responsibility for the entire installation process. If you do not feel confident in your ability, please hire a professional or contact us to arrange a rebuild service. This choice helps prevent avoidable damage.

Spider Spacer / Clamp Ring Notice

The OEM Skar Audio VXF subwoofer uses a spider spacer clamp-down ring to secure the spider to the frame. However, our aftermarket drop-in recone kit does not include this clamp ring, and it is not required for proper installation. We use high-strength black rubber CA glue, which keeps the spider secured without the need for a clamp ring when applied correctly. Therefore, you can bond the spider directly to the frame using the recommended CA glue without any additional hardware.

Custom-Built Product and Final Sale Policy

We build each recone kit to order, and most kits require 7–12 business days. Since we create each kit specifically for your model, all sales are final. For this reason, you must verify compatibility before placing an order. We do not offer returns, refunds, exchanges, or store credit under any circumstance.

Warranty and Liability Limits

This recone kit does not include warranty coverage for installation-related issues. In addition, the following problems are not covered:

• Voice coil rubbing or misalignment

• Coil ticking

• Burnt or overheated coils

• Broken tinsel leads

• Damage from incorrect adhesives or improper shimming

• Failures caused by incorrect tuning or misuse

These issues typically result from human error; therefore, the customer accepts responsibility for them.

Manufacturing Defect Review Process

If you believe your kit contains a legitimate manufacturing defect, contact us within 72 hours of delivery. We may request photos, videos, or a return for inspection. We evaluate the evidence and decide whether a defect exists. If we confirm a defect, we may repair or replace only the affected component. We do not issue refunds or store credit.

Aftermarket Component Notice

This recone kit is an aftermarket product, not an OEM part. Therefore, you should expect slight differences in tonal response, efficiency, and behavior. Furthermore, we strongly advise against mixing aftermarket reconed subwoofers with OEM units in the same enclosure. Doing so usually causes imbalance or performance issues. You accept all risks associated with these configurations.

By purchasing and installing this recone kit, you accept full responsibility for installation, tuning, and use. Improper installation or misuse can damage equipment or cause injury. For this reason, we do not accept liability for any equipment damage, property damage, or personal injury.

Adhesives for Subwoofer Drop-In Repair 

Using the correct adhesive during a drop-in recone is essential. The right glue ensures strong bonding, proper alignment, and long-term reliability. Below is a simple guide to help you choose the correct adhesive for each component:

• Spider to Frame: Black rubber CA glue provides a strong, flexible bond for these critical connections.

• Surround Lip to Frame: Use L3890 black rubber glue, which maintains flexibility to handle the inherent vibrations in subwoofer operation.

• Dust Caps and Lead Wires: Likewise, L3890 glue is ideal for securing dust caps and dressing lead wires, ensuring they remain securely in place during use.

Using adhesives formulated specifically for speaker repair is crucial. They are designed to withstand the unique stresses and vibrations experienced by subwoofer components. Therefore, always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
