JL Audio 13W7 / 13W7AE Subwoofer Spider OEM-Equivalent 

The JL Audio 13W7 / 13W7AE subwoofer spider is made specifically to fit the W7 platform. In contrast to our direct-fit version, this spider follows the original W7 collar-based mounting method and requires a voice coil collar for proper installation.

OEM-Style Mounting — Collar Required

This spider uses an oversized inner opening, so you must use a voice coil collar to make it fit correctly. First, bond the collar to the voice coil. Then, bond the spider to the collar. If you skip the collar, the spider will not fit or hold properly on the coil.

What Else Do You Need?

Along with the spider, you will typically need the correct spider collar, voice coil, cone collar and surround to complete the repair. Since replacement cones and dust caps for the 13W7 are not available from any supplier, you will need to reuse your existing cone and dust cap.

For that reason, confirm your cone and dust cap are still in good condition before you start. In addition, we carry the matching surround, voice coil and cone collar to complete your repair.

Recommended Adhesives

Using the right adhesives is the difference between a repair that lasts and one that fails prematurely.

• EC4000 Rubber-Toughened CA Glue— for gluing the voice coil to the spider and cone
• FLXEP860 Semi-Flexible Black Epoxy — an alternative to CA glue for gluing the voice coil to the spider and cone
• BEP870 Black Epoxy – an alternative to CA glue for gluing the voice coil to the spider and cone
• L3890 Thick Black Rubber Adhesive — for attaching the dust cap

Installation Tips

Dry-fit parts first and confirm alignment before final bonding. Use the correct adhesives for spider-to-voice-coil and spider-to-collar bonding, then allow full cure time before applying power. If you’d rather not do it yourself, contact us and we can discuss rebuild service options.
