JL Audio 13W7 / 13W7AE Subwoofer Spider With Dual Leads
The JL Audio 13W7 / 13W7AE Subwoofer Spider with leads is made specifically to fit the 13W7 platform. This version gives you a ready-to-install setup with integrated lead wires, which helps save time during assembly and keeps the leads positioned cleanly through the suspension.
Direct-Fit Design (No Collar)
This spider uses a smaller voice coil inner diameter (VCID), so it installs directly onto the voice coil during assembly. Unlike the OEM-style spider, this version does not use the factory collar-based mounting method.
Do not use a voice coil collar with this spider. The VCID matches the voice coil diameter and bonds directly to the coil. If you try to install a collar, the spider will not seat correctly and the fit will be wrong. By removing the collar step, this design simplifies installation and reduces tolerance stack-up.
Dual Sewn Leads
This version includes sewn dual leads and works well for builds where you do not have the spider collar. Because the spider bonds directly to the voice coil, you do not need the OEM-style collar setup. The integrated leads also save time during assembly and keep lead routing clean through the suspension.
Fabric and Resin Construction
This spider uses resin-treated suspension fabric intended for loudspeaker suspension assemblies. The resin treatment helps the spider hold its shape and maintain consistent stiffness through repeated cycles when installed correctly.
Complete Your 13W7 Rebuild
For full 13W7 rebuilds, we also offer the matching 13W7 surround and 13W7 voice coil. These parts are made specifically for the 13W7 platform.
Recommended Adhesives
Using the right adhesives is the difference between a repair that lasts and one that fails prematurely.
- EC4000 Rubber-Toughened CA Glue— for gluing the voice coil to the spider and cone
- FLEXP860 Semi-Flexible Black Epoxy — an alternative to CA glue for gluing the voice coil to the spider and cone
- BEP870 Black Epoxy – an alternative to CA glue for gluing the voice coil to the spider and cone
- L3890 Thick Black Rubber Adhesive — for attaching the dust cap
These adhesives handle the mechanical stress and heat found in high-power subwoofers.
All four adhesives are available on our website. Consequently, using the wrong glue can result in a failed repair. Therefore, we strongly recommend using only these products for the best results.
Dry-fit parts first and confirm alignment before final bonding. Use the correct adhesives for spider-to-voice-coil bonding and allow full cure time before applying power. If you prefer not to DIY, contact us and we can discuss rebuild service options.
