8″ Polypropylene Subwoofer Cone 1.5″ VCID
The 8″ polypropylene subwoofer cone with rubber surround is built for low-wattage subwoofers, midbass drivers, and marine-grade speakers. Polypropylene is lightweight, moisture-proof, and durable, so it performs well in harsh or changing environments. Because of this stability, it works great in boats, motorcycles, outdoor speakers, and compact subwoofer builds.
This cone includes a high-quality butyl rubber surround measuring 8.4mm tall and 15mm wide. Rubber surrounds stay flexible much longer than foam and resist UV exposure, humidity, and heat. As a result, the suspension moves smoothly and keeps the cone stable throughout its full excursion range. This helps maintain accurate sound reproduction without the long-term cracking or drying that occurs with lower-grade materials.
Polypropylene combines stiffness with low mass, giving the cone quick midbass response with low distortion. It works best in subwoofers rated at 300 watts RMS and below, where efficiency and reliability matter more than extreme excursion. The controlled movement and reduced mass also make it an excellent choice for midbass drivers that need sharp attack and clean output.
Because polypropylene doesn’t absorb moisture, the cone stays consistent in any climate. It performs reliably in humid, wet, or outdoor conditions, which makes it ideal for marine audio and all-weather speaker systems. Whether you’re building a sealed sub, a ported midbass driver, or an infinite-baffle outdoor setup, the cone offers stable and predictable performance.
This 8″ cone pairs with a 1.5″ voice coil and fits easily into most standard steel frame basket designs. For proper bonding, always use L3890 Rubber Speaker Adhesive, since it is specifically formulated for polypropylene and rubber. CA glues will not bond to PP materials and should be avoided.
Overall, this polypropylene cone delivers durability, efficiency, and reliable sound quality for small subwoofers, midbass drivers, and marine-grade speaker systems.
