BPC6020 Voice Coil Winding Adhesive is a high-temperature butyral phenolic cement formulated for bonding speaker voice coil windings. With a two-stage curing process, it provides exceptional strength and heat resistance over 500°F.
BPC6020 Voice Coil Winding Adhesive:
The BPC6020 is a specialized butyral phenolic cement adhesive, carefully engineered for voice coil winding and laminating in speakers and subwoofers. Because of its two-stage curing process, it ensures excellent handling during assembly while also delivering long-term strength in high-power audio systems.
Two-Stage Curing Process:
-
B-Stage (Pre-Cure): First, coat the wire winding with adhesive and then dry it until it becomes tacky and semi-solid. This stage allows easier handling and precise assembly. However, you must not exceed 250°F (121°C) during this step, since higher temperatures can cause premature curing.
-
Thermoset Stage (Final Cure): After assembly, heat the coil again between 290–350°F (143–177°C) for 30–40 minutes. At this point, the adhesive fully crosslinks into a thermoset bond, which results in maximum heat resistance and durability.
Key Features of BPC6020 Voice Coil Winding Cement:
-
Type: Butyral phenolic cement, high-temp voice coil adhesive
-
Viscosity: 2,500–3,500 cps at 25°C
-
Adjustable Formula: If the adhesive becomes too thick, you can thin it with MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) for smoother application.
-
Engineered Strength: Because it withstands extreme thermal and mechanical stress, it is highly reliable for loudspeaker operation.
-
Flexible Application: You may apply it by roller or brush, which allows precise coating of coil windings.
Recommended Application:
-
Apply a thin, even coat to wire windings.
-
Afterward, allow the adhesive to air dry until tack-free.
-
Place the coil in an oven at 250°F for 2 minutes, then let it cool.
-
Next, post cure at 325°F for 30–40 minutes to achieve maximum performance.
-
If needed, re-activate the adhesive with MEK after the initial drying stage.
Storage & Handling:
-
Shelf life: 6 months minimum when stored correctly
-
Store at 60–80°F (16–27°C) to maintain viscosity stability. While lower temperatures may temporarily increase viscosity, higher temperatures may permanently damage the adhesive.
Safety Warning:
Flammable – Because it contains volatile solvents, it will ignite if exposed to sparks, flames, or heat. Always use in a well-ventilated area during application and until vapors have fully dissipated.
