CT Sounds Meso-8 Dual 2 Ohm Voice Coil
Our CT Sounds Meso-8 dual 2 ohm subwoofer voice coil features a 4-layer copper-clad aluminum (CCA) wire wound on a black anodized aluminum former, specifically designed to enhance heat dissipation during high-power operation. The black anodized aluminum former plays a crucial role in improving thermal conductivity, which helps prevent overheating while also increasing the voice coil’s overall durability and resistance to corrosion over time.
By incorporating copper-clad aluminum wire, the voice coil benefits from an optimized balance of excellent electrical conductivity, reduced weight, and enhanced cost efficiency, making it a high-performance option for demanding audio applications. The unique combination of a copper outer layer and an aluminum core allows the wire to deliver excellent conductivity while significantly lowering the overall mass when compared to a voice coil made from pure copper. This reduced mass improves the efficiency and responsiveness of the voice coil, enabling faster and more precise movement, which contributes to superior transient response, enhanced sound clarity, and better audio system performance overall.
The copper cladding in copper-clad aluminum (CCA) wire plays a critical role in minimizing power loss by enhancing electrical conductivity and ensuring efficient energy transfer to the speaker, which ultimately results in cleaner, more dynamic, and distortion-free sound output. In addition to providing excellent conductivity, the copper-clad aluminum wire retains enough mechanical strength to endure the high temperatures and intense mechanical stress typically experienced during high-power audio applications. The copper layer surrounding the aluminum core not only improves electrical performance but also simplifies the soldering process, making it easier to create secure connections and seamlessly integrate the wire into a variety of audio designs.
By optimizing the balance between electrical conductivity, tensile strength, and reduced overall weight, this copper-clad aluminum voice coil enhances control over the speaker’s movement while improving stability and thermal handling under demanding operating conditions. These combined benefits lead to more accurate sound reproduction, increased durability, and reduced audio distortion, making it an outstanding choice for users seeking high-performance audio output without sacrificing system efficiency or reliability.
This voice coil utilizes a high-temperature adhesive that withstands temperatures up to 500°F. This superior construction has earned customer trust, especially when compared to competitors’ coils that fail due to poor-quality adhesives from overseas.
In order to properly fix (build) your subwoofer you need to make sure you use the proper adhesives. When gluing the voice coil to the spider and cone we recommend using our black rubber CA glue. For gluing the surround lip to the frame we recommend using use our L3890 black rubber glue. Same goes as well for gluing dust caps and dressing leads.
