JL Audio 13W7 / 13W7AE Subwoofer Spider

The JL Audio 13W7 / 13W7AE subwoofer spider is made specifically to fit the 13W7 platform. We offer two versions so you can choose what matches your build: a direct-fit version (no collar) or an OEM-style version (collar required).

Options Available

We offer a version with sewn dual leads for a ready-to-install setup with integrated lead wires. This saves time during assembly and keeps the leads positioned cleanly through the suspension. In addition, this version installs directly to the voice coil, so you do not use a voice coil collar with it.

We also offer an OEM-style version that follows the original JL Audio W7 collar-based mounting method. JL uses an oversized inner opening on the OEM-style spider, so you must use a voice coil collar to make it fit correctly. Bond the collar to the voice coil first, then bond the spider to the collar. If you skip the collar, the spider will not fit or hold properly on the coil.

Direct-Fit VCID Design (No Collar)

This spider uses a smaller voice coil inner diameter (VCID), so it installs directly onto the voice coil during assembly. In contrast, the OEM-style version uses a larger inner opening and requires a separate collar ring.

Do not use a voice coil collar with this version. The VCID grips the coil diameter and bonds directly to the coil. As a result, you eliminate the collar step and reduce tolerance stack-up.

Fabric and Resin Construction

This spider uses resin-treated suspension fabric intended for loudspeaker suspension assemblies. The resin treatment helps the spider hold its shape and maintain consistent stiffness through repeated cycles.

For full 13W7 rebuilds, we also offer the matching 13W7 surround and 13W7 voice coil. These parts are made specifically for the 13W7 platform.

Recommended Adhesives

Using the right adhesives is the difference between a repair that lasts and one that fails prematurely.

For bonding the spider to the voice coil or collar.

• EC4000 Rubber-Toughened CA Glue

• BEP870 Epoxy

• FLEXP860 Epoxy

These adhesives handle the mechanical stress and heat found in high-power subwoofers.

Dry-fit parts first and confirm alignment before final bonding. Use the correct adhesives for spider-to-voice-coil bonding and allow full cure time before applying power. If you prefer not to DIY, contact us and we can discuss rebuild service options.
