When the fit matches the original shape, the cone tracks evenly and the sub keeps its intended feel during playback. In contrast, generic surrounds often change suspension behavior. They can also make centering harder during installation, which increases the chance of noise or uneven travel later.

This foam surround supports controlled movement through normal excursion. It helps the cone stay stable during music and daily use. It also helps keep the moving assembly centered as the glue cures. A matched cap also prevents common problems caused by universal caps, such as uneven edges or weak glue landings. If you want an OEM-style appearance, you can also add our JL Audio electroform logo badge (0.85″ with 3M adhesive) to the dust cap for a clean, factory-style finish.

The included M3087B rubber glue works well for speaker and subwoofer assembly when you need working time and a strong bond. For best results, remove all old adhesive completely and clean the bonding surfaces. Then dry-fit the surround and dust cap before you apply glue. Next, apply glue in stages so you can make small adjustments while it remains workable. After installation, let the glue cure for at least 24 hours at room temperature before heavy use, high volume, or hard bass.
