The JL Audio 13W7 has earned a reputation as one of the finest subwoofers ever made. Consequently, when the voice coil fails, rebuilding is almost always the smarter move. Our Dual 1 Ohm Voice Coil is a direct replacement that gets your 13W7 /AE back to full power without breaking the bank.

In addition to the voice coil, you will also need a new spider and cone collar to complete the repair. However, the good news is that you can reuse your existing cone and dust cap. And if not, we carry those parts as well.

Our 13W7 / 13W7AE Dual 1 Ohm Voice Coil is designed specifically for the JL Audio 13W7. Moreover, it features copper tabs for easier soldering of leads. As a result, the installation process is much more straightforward. Because it uses a high temperature (wet wound) round aluminum winding, it consequently holds up under heavy use. We also offer this voice coil in a Dual 1.5 Ohm version for builders who need that impedance.

Recommended Adhesives

Using the right adhesives is the difference between a repair that lasts and one that fails prematurely.

• EC4000 Rubber-Toughened CA Glue— for gluing the voice coil to the spider and cone
• FLEXP860 Semi-Flexible Black Epoxy — an alternative to CA glue for gluing the voice coil to the spider and cone
• BEP870 Black Epoxy – an alternative to CA glue for gluing the voice coil to the spider and cone
• L3890 Thick Black Rubber Adhesive — for attaching the dust cap

These adhesives handle the mechanical stress and heat found in high-power subwoofers.

All four adhesives are available on our website. Consequently, using the wrong glue can result in a failed repair. Therefore, we strongly recommend using only these products for the best results.

Installation Notes

Dry-fit parts first and confirm alignment before final bonding. Before final assembly, meter the voice coil to confirm the impedance is correct. Then use the proper adhesives for spider-to-voice-coil and cone bonding, and allow full cure time before applying power.
