Alpine Type R Dual 4 Ohm Voice Coil is made with an inner diameter of 2.58″ and not to get it confused with 2.5″ inner diameter voice which will not fit any of Type R subwoofers. It all starts with a high temperature 4 layer copper wire wrapped on a black anodized aluminum former for superior heat dissipation rated for a conservative 750 watts rms and 2250 watts peak power.  This voice coil is the exact replacement for the oem Type R subwoofers that use the 2.58″ voice coil. Please be advised that the older generation Type R models were made with a different size voice coil. If your not sure which size voice coil fits your subwoofer, we recommend that you remove the cone assembly and measure the voice coil inner diameter using a digital caliper and not a tape measure which is not an accurate way to measure voice coils.  The sizes that fit the Alpine Type R are the 10″ & 12″ subwoofers that use the 2.58″ voice coil. This coil will not fit the Type R 15″ which has a much taller former height in which this voice coil will not reach the neck joint of the cone. Also will not fit the Type R 8″.

In order to properly fix your subwoofer you need to make sure you use the proper glue. When gluing the voice coil to spider and cone we recommend using our black rubber CA glue. For gluing the surround lip to the frame we recommend using use our L3045 black rubber glue. Same goes as well for gluing dust caps and dressing leads. 

One very important thing to note is that when fixing or building subwoofer(s) using a aluminum voice coil you must us proper soldering flux specifically made for aluminum wire. We offer the soldering flux kit (Ultra Gold Flux) which comes with the proper solder.
