The JL Audio 10W6v2 / 12W6v2 subwoofers have earned a strong reputation as one of the finest drivers in the W6v2 series. When the voice coil fails, rebuilding is almost always the smarter move. What Else Do You Need?

Along with the voice coil, you will typically need the correct spider and cone collar to complete the repair. Both the 10W6v2 and 12W6v2 use the same D4 voice coil. However, they use different spiders, so be sure to choose the correct spider for your model:

• 10W6v2 spider

• 12W6v2 spider

Since replacement cones for the JL Audio 10W6v2 and 12W6v2 aren’t available from any suppliers, you must reuse your existing cone. Make sure your cone and dust cap are still in good condition before you begin.

Glues Needed

Using the right adhesives is the difference between a repair that lasts and one that fails prematurely. So, make sure you have the correct products on hand before you begin.

Recommended adhesives:

• L3890 rubber adhesive (surround to cone)

• EC9501 CA glue (spider to voice coil)

• BEP870 epoxy (spider to voice coil)

• FLXEP860 epoxy (spider to voice coil)

Before you glue, dry-fit parts first and confirm centering. Then let the adhesives cure for at least 24 hours at room temperature before you power the subwoofer.
