Why buy new a subwoofer when you can repair your old subwoofer for a fraction of the cost? The most common parts that need to be replaced on the 8w7 subwoofer is the surround, spider and voice coil which can all be purchased on our website. If it’s just the surround that you need to replace then your in luck which is much easier fix. We offer the surround kit which includes the glue bottle. Worst case if the voice coil is bad then you will need the spider and voice coil as long the surround is fine. You must reuse the cone and the voice coil collar off your old subwoofer being that those parts are patented by JL Audio and no one has the rights to sell or copy them.
Never fixed a subwoofer nor have an idea how to begin, no problem YouTube is your #1 source for all your research videos on fixing your subwoofer. Our aftermarket JL Audio 8W7 subwoofer voice coil is the exact replacement for all JL Audio 8W7, 8W7-3, 8W7AE and 8W7AE-3 subwoofers rated at 500 watts rms same as oem.
In order to properly fix or build a subwoofer you need to make sure your using the proper glues. When gluing the voice coil to spider and cone you need to make sure you use black rubber toughened CA glue. For gluing the surround lip to the frame we recommend using use our L3045 black rubber glue. Same goes as well for gluing dust caps and dressing leads.

Mike (verified owner) –
Repaired my 8w7 with this voice coil. It uses flat aluminum wire, and is parallel wound, dual 6 ohm. In theory, from what I’ve read, this should have good power handing. The voice coil fits well, but the winding height seems to be a 1-2 mm shorter than the factory coil, thus lowers the x-max of your speaker. The factory coil uses round copper wire.
Note: the lead connections on this coil are not the same as factory. I had to cut through the paper and pull the wires down from the top of the former to where the windings start in order to make connections using the factory collar. Below the paper, you’ll find the wires are insulated and covered in glue. This was particularly difficult to clean and prep for a good solder connection.
If I had to do it all over again, it would go much smoother. A bit of a learning curve modifying parts to work.
