3″ Voice Coil Single 2 Ohm Copper
Our 3″ voice coil single 2 ohm copper voice coil features a 4-layer copper round wire wound on Kapton former. Utilizing a Kapton former in speaker voice coils offers several advantages. Kapton’s non-conductive nature prevents the formation of eddy currents, which can otherwise introduce mechanical resistance and distortion in conductive materials like aluminum. This absence of eddy currents allows for smoother diaphragm movement and improved sound quality. Additionally, Kapton’s stability helps maintain consistent inductance characteristics, ensuring reliable speaker performance across various frequencies. However, it’s important to note that while Kapton provides excellent thermal resilience, its lower thermal conductivity compared to materials like aluminum may affect heat dissipation in high-power applications. Therefore, the choice of former material should balance factors such as thermal management, weight, flexibility, and electrical properties to meet specific design requirements. The use of copper wire enhances electrical conductivity, providing efficient power transfer and effective performance in audio applications. Copper offers superior strength and is much easier to solder to than aluminum.
Additionally, copper’s excellent conductivity ensures minimal power loss, leading to improved efficiency and sound quality. Copper’s higher density compared to aluminum contributes to better control and stability of the voice coil, enhancing the overall audio performance.
This voice coil utilizes a high-temperature adhesive that withstands temperatures up to 500°F. This superior construction has earned customer trust, especially when compared to competitors’ coils that fail due to poor-quality adhesives from overseas.
Adhesives for Subwoofer Repair and Reliability
To ensure long-lasting reliability, this voice coil is constructed using a high-temperature adhesive capable of withstanding extreme temperatures up to 500°F. As a result, it performs well under demanding conditions and has earned customer trust. By contrast, competitors’ coils often fail due to inferior adhesives.
When repairing a subwoofer, it’s essential to use the correct adhesive for each component to ensure proper bonding:
-
Voice Coil to Spider and Cone: Black rubber CA glue provides a strong, flexible bond for these critical connections.
-
Surround Lip to Frame: Use L3890 black rubber glue, which maintains flexibility to handle the inherent vibrations in subwoofer operation.
-
Dust Caps and Lead Wires: Likewise, L3890 glue is ideal for securing dust caps and dressing lead wires, ensuring they remain securely in place during use.
Using adhesives formulated specifically for speaker repair is crucial. They are designed to withstand the unique stresses and vibrations experienced by subwoofer components. Therefore, always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
