Linear spider pack has a consistent roll or corrugation pattern throughout it’s entire surface. The corrugation shape is uniform, providing a consistent restoring force as the voice coil moves. Typically made from fabric impregnated with stiffening resin, the material choice and treatment affect flexibility and durability. This design offers a linear compliance characteristic, meaning the restoring force remains consistent across the entire range of motion.
Our 7″ x 2.38″ linear roll multi-layered spider pack offers numerous advantages that boost both performance and durability. These packs increase rigidity and stability by providing multiple layers of support to the voice coil, ensuring it stays centered and reducing the risk of the coil rubbing against the magnet assembly. This added stability enhances the overall reliability of the speaker.
The combined stiffness from a multi-layered spider pack allows the speaker to handle higher power levels without distortion. This is particularly useful in high-performance audio systems that require loud volumes and powerful outputs. The multi-layered design also improves control over the voice coil’s movement, especially during large excursions. This helps maintain linearity and reduces distortion, resulting in clearer sound reproduction.
Make sure you’re using the proper glue when attaching the spider to both the coil and the frame. The best glue, in our opinion, is CA glue, which we offer in several viscosities. Our most popular CA glue is the EC4000, available either as a kit or as a standalone bottle. If you plan on using a 2.38‑inch aluminum coil, be sure to use the proper solder flux specifically designed for soldering aluminum. However, if you’re using copper wire voice coils, then you won’t need solder flux
